Yellow Dahl with Cabbage

Usually in curries, vegetables like potato and spinach are common. But using cabbage is probably something new. In the Netherlands green cabbage is known as 'white cabbage' and is usually onsumed as sauerkraut. But using the cabbage as is works surprisingly well in curry. Leaving it in large wedges makes this vegetable the center of the curry, and reduces prep time.

Kokosmilch
Ingwer
Rote Chilischoten
Kurkuma
Kümmel
Zwiebeln
Knoblauch

Vorbereitung

  1. Zwiebel würfeln
  2. Mince garlic and ginger
  3. Chop chilli finely
  4. Cut half a cabbage into 4 wedges

Gemüsebrühe zubereiten

Sauté cabbage wedges

use a large frying pan or wide pot with plenty of oil and bake all sides, medium/high heat ~8 min, take out and set aside

Sauté onions, garlic, ginger and chilli

use as much/little chilli as you like, stir ~2 min

Add cumin and turmeric

rühren ~2 Min

Add coconut milk, chickpeas, lentils and bouillon

stir ~1 min

Place cabbage wedges back into pan

bring mixture to a boil, cover with a lid, simmer at low heat ~15 min

Erbsen hinzufügen

cook until cabbage is tender ~5 min
